Yes I have finished a sprint distance and an olympic distance triathlon. I have also completed 2 - 100 mile mountain bike races.
I have put on hold further endurance racing to concentrate on my strength pursuits.
When I do pick back up those events I will use a mix of long/slow and interval based training. Long/slow is necessary at first to build a base of endurance fitness. Intervals would be included throughout, but a build-up would be needed.

You are a former triathklon-finisher, right?
Why do you quit it? With the info you now have, how would you train for it? By Long and slow?
